Frequently Asked Questions

Managed Services

  • Think of managed services as ‘your IT department’. We have many services that we bundle for our customers to provide them with complete IT management and oversight including helpdesk services, network infrastructure design and installation, hardware procurement (laptops, desktops, servers), equipment dispositioning, equipment warehousing, etc.

If you have no IT resources we can handle everything you need to keep your business up and running and your employees productive. If you have an internal IT staff we offer many co-managed IT solutions that allow us to handle the day-to-day so your internal resources can be more strategic.

  • We work best with companies that have five or more employees. The earlier you engage with a managed services company, the better. Oftentimes if an organization has waiting to engage a professional we will need to work through significant technical debt to get your environment to a place that is easy to support.

  • IT environments are very complex and require leveraging tools to manage. Oftentimes when we’re working with new customers we will need to educate them on the true costs of building out your own IT environment. Our pricing includes things like helpdesk/ticketing software, management software, endpoint monitoring and management, security tools, and more. We’re also constantly evaluating the IT landscape to ensure that the tools we’re using are tuned properly and that we’re always using best-in-class to keep your IT environment stable and secure.

  • AVIT is an acronym that stands for Audio-Visual Information Technology. Newgentek can handle all of your AVIT needs in Tampa and across the country. We design, install, and support AVIT for our customers with offices across the United States. Our customers across verticals including hospitality, retail, hotels, manufacturing, engineering, and professional services trust us for all of their AV IT needs.

Network Infrastructure

  • Network infrastructure is your cabling and equipment that is used to connect you to your local network and the internet. This includes cabling, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. This equipment requires maintenance and monitoring to ensure that your users are having the best experience. Most of this equipment also requires routine security updates.

  • There are a number of factors that would impact lifecycle of your network infrastructure. Manufacturers will typically support equipment until end-of-life and provide updates as well. We track all of the equipment in our customers environment to know when warranties expire and when hardware is going end-of-life.

  • Poor network infrastructure and connectivity is a poor experience for users. When your employees can’t reliably connect to the network to get their work done, it’s a problem. We proactively monitor your network infrastructure and are notified when connectivity may be interrupted. We’re also able to provide redundant internet connections to your offices to ensure that downtime is virtually eliminated. Your users won’t even know if the primary internet connection goes down!

Low Voltage Cabling

  • Low voltage cabling is the cabling that is typically found in the ceilings and walls of your workplace that can be used to connect devices to the networking including endpoints (workstations, servers, etc.), network equipment (switches, firewalls, and wireless access points), and workplace technology (conference room equipment that powers Zoom Rooms and Teams Rooms).

  • Planning ahead for requirements in a new space is the ideal time to be thinking about low voltage cabling. We help customers that are moving into new space ensure that they have enough cabling to run their IT infrastructure efficiently. We’re able to run and test cable to ensure that your cabling infrastructure is solid so that your devices and network are communicating as efficiently as possible.

  • It’s important to ensure that the vendor running your low voltage cabling is experienced and is using labor that is experienced to perform the job. In some cases its also required that the vendor that you use to run the low voltage cabling is licensed in the local municipality. Certain buildings also have cable type requirements.
